Hypnagogia

Hypnagogia

The term Hypnagogia Refers to the transitional feeling from wakefulness to slumber, often denoted as ‘hypnogogic sleep’. Most Commonly experienced during this transitory state is body paralysis and visual/auditory hallucination; the inability to move during a wakeful nightmare. The experience is unsettling, surreal and more often than not, terrifying. These Photographs function as dreamscape narratives based on nightmares or stories one might hear or tell at a slumber party; a meld of fact, fiction, experience and illusion. Capturing the intense psychological sensation of this condition. The pictures maintain a haunting quality of being immobilized deep within these distressing, otherworldly moments.
